Hi,
just wanted to give a sign of life and let you all know that I am working on the documentation.
Has anybody tried to assemble an adapter yet?

I thought I should have a working prototype without the Basic Stamp so I wire wrapped a board with a 74hct541

I tried and face a problem with my setup.

All seemed to work until I tried the volume copy.
I always get a "volume not found" on the .d2.
However it starts up and my scope also shows the logic signals are OK but still something does not work.

If someone was more successful please let me know, maybe I just don't see the wood for the trees.

Wolfgang

Well, electronics engineering sometimes does require adjustments ;-)

Folks - I am part of a Mac computer recycling club that is finally moving into space provided by a local church (we've been without a home for nearly two years). We are a 501(c)(3) organization and everyone involved is a volunteer.

We not only repair older Macs and Apples, but our real focus is to recycle Macs back into the community - either to individuals, schools or other worthy groups. We are increasingly interested in recycling Macs to send home with our wonderful veterans returning from Afghanistan and Iraq (tho I would say there is no requirement they had to serve in either country). We are also hoping to establish ties with a high school across the street and help teach students more about Macs and get them involved in the recycling effort.

We have been saving and taking donations so that when we found a new home, we could purchase the equipment, Internet service, insurance and other stuff you just need to get started. Luckily, the church looks on this as a mission/service that they can provide to the community, which we appreciate.

But we need more funds - which is why I'm coming to you. I'm not asking you for donations (tho that would be appreciated!) but offering something that might be of much greater interest - virtually my entire Apple /// collection. At the moment, I plan to keep one ///, monitor and a set of the WAP PD library, but that's about it.

This is likely one of the best and most complete collections you might find out there and includes a wide range of public and commercial software (some still in original packaging), Silentype printer and paper, documentation, copied manuals, Apple advertisements, articles and historical letters (which fills two filing cabinet drawers), as well as two Apple ///s (one does not work), a color RGB monitor, Profile, external hard drive, and much more (external power supply anyone?). Unfortunately, it does not include my original collection of books and manuals - which went to the Digibarn folks out in California a few years ago.

The collection is big enough that I really can't ship it - it will have to go to someone who can get to Washington, DC (Silver Spring, MD.) to pick it up.

I want to sell it as a set, honestly - I think if you're looking to really complete your collection of Apple /// materials, this will get you pretty far.

I'm asking for $1000 for this vast collection (and it is as vast as an Apple /// collection can be!) - but all the money will go to the MacRecycle Club (in fact you can write the check or send via PayPal directly) and none to me. As a consequence, this is also a tax deductible donation for you - it's a 501(c)(3) as I indicated. So you win both ways, and the /// community wins as well.

My primary goal is to keep the collection together if at all possible so that it can continue to be a real resource for our /// community. If a couple of you want to go together on it, that works for me too - but I want to take care of everything up front.

Give me your thoughts and we'll move on from here. I can send you photos or you can come for a visit to see it all. I'm not planning to leave the /// community - but I can't maintain this material like I would like anymore and want to see it go to someone who really cares (which is all of you!).

Thank you!

I've created an Apple /// Facebook Group for anyone interested in joining.
The Apple II folks have their group, but I thought a /// specific group
might be nice.

You can join here:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=126513737382146

Obviously, there's not much there at the moment, as I just created it, but
I'm hoping some folks can pitch in and add content.

Subject: [Apple3-L] Sorry for being quiet - Apple ///'s packed up to move
Message-ID: <AANLkTilDKlh8maOlFNM4395FCW4sPdfpLMO-PO5M73JT@mail.gmail.com>

I have not been able to test much lately since the household is packed
up for our house move. Hope to be back online later in the summer
after the unpacking stage :-)

I saw a discussion of the Device Side Data FC5025 5.25" to USB floppy
disk drive adapter on Google Reader today. If you do not have a
usable Apple /// or Apple ][ setup and need to transfer disks, it may
interest you. A review is at:

http://ascii.textfiles.com/archives/2503

I am going to order one as a backup and also to help with a few
NorthStar disks I have not yet converted. I will not get to use it
for several weeks, though, as my Teac floppy drives are also solidly
packed... :)

Have a great weekend,

Jeff

Subject: [Apple3-L] Maximum number of drives?
Message-ID: <10D38CBC-211E-4C53-BF92-90BC199BECA9@ti.com>

Hi,
I also have to apologize for being silent so long. My Job is currently eating me.

I have not been successful to build a discrete drive adapter.
Right now I have put this on hold and move forward with my microcontroller based adapter to get the duodisk connected.

Snip

I have a CFFA card with 5 partitions + 4 disk drives + 1 profile configured.
Now to my surprise the profile does not show up anymore.
If I put some CFFA drives to inactive the profile shows up and works fine.

Is there a maximum of drives ?

Regards,
Wolfgang
